I wrote and complained and they emailed

I was stopped with a decathlon backpack, it fitted into the frame but i was delicate with it as i had some china gifts wrapped in it...the stern woman at Lanzarote airport said it did not fit easily huh!! and I was charged 50 euros, I noticed others forcing their cabin bags in and out of the frame and being let on. Also nobody had a their cases checked for the 10kg restriction and clearly some were overweight. I had a small rucksack weighing less than 5kg and fitted into the frame but was charged. I wrote a letter of complaint only to receive a standard issue reply (not addressing my issue at all) which was not even sent to me it was emailed to my friends email address (as she booked the flights) They didn't even have the manners to reply in hard copy letter to my home address. If you not on their complaints page you can only write so many characters in the email box and are advised otherwise to send a letter. Unbelievably bad service and customer service and never fly ryanair again!!

Daylight robbery

Ryanair!!! Don`t get me srartee. This is theft in every sense of the word. Our cases were deemed to be too tall even though we`ve used them on many occasions with Ryanair. The stitched seam was a`above the bar` according to the hostile money grabbing staff on the `walk of terror`. When we asked hwere it said the seam had to be below the bar we were told it didn`t matter where it said it. Ww paid an extortionate £80 on the outward journey> The cardboard `gate box` fitted perfectly over our cases but of course it was too late to do anything. We,bought a new case and ripped the wheels off the second one for the retrurn journey only to find at Faro airport they were so laid back we didn`t even put our cases in the cage and even those clearly too big were waved through. Perhaps they`re not on commission in Faro or have a more sensible approach. .No other business would be allowed to get away wit this without reproach. .

This is not Germany but Barcelona!

when i flew from Germay to Barcelona, they allowed me to take the cabin suitcase without a problem but Barcelona airport made me to pay 40€ for the same luggage as it did not fit . My luggage is smaller than a prescribed size but the wheel was little bigger so it could not fit. This lady in barcelona airport said " This is not Germany but Barcelona". I went to barcelona for 2 days.if i was stopped in Germany, i could have done something. I am thinking to complain but i don't know if it makes sense.

Ryanair are jokers

Unbelievable! Paying a penalty when the luggage fits...it's madness. A similar incident happened to us but we refused to pay them. Just tell them where to go and treat them like the scum they are...if we all stick together they'd soon change their tune. We all need to fight back against this kind of thing, which is really no less than blatant theft. Ryanair have a monopoly on flights to many destinations and they know this, which is why we should stop accepting this kind of thievery. Their staff are also incentivised to give penalties at all costs, since they make a commission on each penalty they dish out. Disgusting!

I have used same bag for ages but last time had to check it and although it is smaller than frame they made me weighit and then had to give my book to husbnd before allowed on. after paying priority we were then held up for boarding for the weight of one book which still ws included on flight just in another bag.

Embarrassing

I have used same piece of hand luggage for years of budget flights without problem, most time no checks. But on last flight from Gerona they seemed to take objection at the collapsible lid even though my case was the emptiest it's ever been. They make you stand to one side with no explanation why until the last person had boarded. They eventually let me off but the whisperings and 'runway walk of shame' was a horrible experience. I shall be buying a new case before I next fly!

It happens to me the same

I was forced to pay on the 2nd June in the morning despite my luggage fitted in. You pay or you miss the flight. Also, the staff was rude and the lady in question did not show me her badge in order to make a formal complain. This company is a "cowboy" one and they deserve to lose their costumers. Also, hidden figures make them not to be affordable. Bad company

Unfriendly, passive-aggressive behaviour

I was forced to pay a high surcharge on a piece of hand baggage I'd bought specifically for flying with Ryanair, having checked the size allowance and measured it with a tape measure, before purchasing. When forced to place it in the luggage 'measurer', the 2 very rude and unsmiling Ryanair ground staff claimed it was oversize because the collapsible handle stood proud of the opening. They were hostile throughout this humiliating experience, making me feel like a criminal.

My hand luggage was not checked

I have just returned from Stansted on Ryanair and my hand luggage was not checked and niether was the hand luggage of lots of people with oversize & weight hand luggage
—Guest Marian

rip of ryanair

the only way to punish ryanair is not to use them as my mum says you get what you pay for
—Guest david

Same happened to me

I was one of the last to board, so they can get away with more. My bag was definitely small enough and they still complained.
