Of the two cities, Granada has by far the most appeal for the tourist. The last Moorish city to fall to the Christians during the Reconquista (the 'reconquering' of Spain after Muslim rule), Granada is home to the vast Moorish fortress and garden complex of the Alhambra. Jaen is the olive-growing capital of the world. It is said to produce 10% of the world's olive oil. It is also has a spectacular Renaissance cathedral. Most visitors to the area prefer to stay in Granada.

How to Get to Granada and Jaen:
Granada has its own airport (compare prices) and is well connected to Seville and Madrid.
From Granada to Jaen it is an hour's drive on the A44. There are regular buses between the two cities but no train.
