Day Trips from Valencia

Day Trips from Valencia

By Damian Corrigan, About.com

When all is said and done - a city is a city. Whether it is Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Paris, New York or Hong Kong, they're all the same really. A whistle-stop tour of Spain which takes in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Granada and Bilbao but nowhere else misses out some of the most beautiful and diverse parts of Spain. This list of day trips from Valencia should help you decide where to go when you're bored of tall buildings.

My definition of a day trip is somewhere you could conceivably visit in one day - even if that means getting up very early and returning very late at night. However, some of the trips recommended here are a little impractical if you want to return to Valencia the same day.

Beaches Near Valencia

Situated just to the north of the Costa Blanca, Valencia is perfect for taking day trips to the beach. Beach holidays don't have to be lazy, decadent holidays - explore the coast and see a different beach every day!

Day Trips Less Than One Hour from Valencia

  • Segorbe
Nice old town and a waterpark for the kids.

  • Requena
Wine-producing town near Valencia with a crazy festival in August.

Day Trips More Than One Hour from Valencia

  • Castellón
The biggest city between Barcelona and Valencia.

  • Benicassim
Town famous for its rock festival, but also a popular beach resort among the Spanish.
