Vitoria (or Gasteiz in Basque) is few people's first choice for a holiday. It is close to Bilbao, but if Bilbao is your final destination it may be easier to fly to Santander, which, unlike Vitoria, has a direct bus straight from its airport to Bilbao.

Only Iberia fly to Vitoria now. Ryanair have discontinued their flights to Vitoria.

Where is Vitoria?

Vitoria is 60km (by road) to the south of Bilbao, in the north-east of Spain.

What to Do in Vitoria

Vitoria Airport Transfer

There is one bus per day to and from Vitoria, timed to coincide with Ryanair departures. See the Autobuses La Union Vitoria Airport Transfer page (in Spanish but reasonably self-explanatory). A taxi will cost you approximately 15€.

From Vitoria to Other Destinations in Spain

• From Vitoria to Bilbao A one-way ticket from Vitoria to Bilbao with La Union costs under 5€ and takes an hour.
• From Vitoria to Pamplona A train from Vitoria to Pamplona takes under an hour and is the perfect arrival point for visiting the Pamplona Bull Run at the San Fermin Festival.
• From Vitoria to Barcelona There is a direct train to Barcelona which takes seven hours and costs 35€.
