Ryanair

Ireland's biggest budget airline, good for connections from Dublin to Spain. Be careful you know how much you are paying, as Ryanair's extra charges are higher than many other airlines. See this Ryanair vs Easyjet Price Comparison for more details.

EasyJet

Together with Ryanair, Easyjet carries more travelers to Spain than any other budget airline. Easyjet usually flies to more major airports than their rival.

  • Departure Points (in Europe): Dortmund, Geneva, Liverpool, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Basel (Switzerland). From February 2007: Toulouse, Lyon, Rome, Casablanca. Easyjet also has flights from Spain to the UK & Ireland.
  • Destinations (in Spain): Alicante, Almeria, Barcelona, Bilbao, Ibiza, Madrid, Malaga, Murcia, Palma (Mallorca), Valencia. From February 2007: Oviedo, A Coruña (internal)

Vueling

Spain's own budget airline. It is also great for internal flights in Spain.

  • Departure Points (in Europe): Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Rome, Paris, Milan, Venice.
  • Destinations (in Spain): Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, Santiago.

Air Europa

Good Web site allows you to easily find the best deals.

  • Departure Points (in Europe): Budapest, Milan, Paris, Rome, Prague, Warsaw.
  • Destinations (in Spain): Barcelona, Fuerteventura, Alicante, Asturias, Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Granada, Ibiza, Madrid, Malaga, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela, Tenerife (North & South), Vigo, Seville, Valencia, Zaragoza.

Air Asturias

Though it only launched in 2006, the Oviedo-based airline has already ceased operations.

Germanwings

Has several flights between Germany and Spain.

  • Destinations (in Spain): Ibiza, Madrid, Jerez, Barcelona, Alicante, Mallorca.

Darwin Airline

Flights to Switzerland.

Air Berlin/Niki

Niki and Air Berlin operate under a partnership and most of their flights can be booked on either site. Not the cheapest, but they have a transparent pricing system which shows cost including fees while browsing for flights. Note that many flights are not direct.

Meridiana

Very cheap flights to Italy.

Flights to Austria. Not the cheapest.

HLX (Hapag Lloyd)

Flights to Germany.

TUI Fly

Large number of flights from all over Spain to airports throughout Germany.

Transavia (formerly Basiq Air)

Flights from all around Spain to Amsterdam, although they also have a Girona-Rotterdam route.
