Are the Eurail Selectpass & Selectpass Saver Good Value for Money?
The standard Selectpass costs $76 (57€) per day for the three day pass and goes down to $56 (42€) for the 15 day pass. If traveling on the Selectpass Saver, prices go from $65 (48€) to $48 (36€)A long journey in Spain (for example from Granada to Barcelona or Valencia to Santiago de Compostela) will cost about 50€-90€ ($65-$118). As an example of prices in other countries, a ticket from Nice to Paris in France costs 133€ ($175) and from Hamburg to Munich in Germany costs 115€ ($150). These are about as far as you can go in one country, so remember that the average cost of travel in these countries is a lot lower.
Only very long journeys in Spain will cost more than 57€, so if you are spending the majority of your time in Spain, this pass is not going to benefit you. However, with the higher travel costs in other countries, the more time you spend in other countries in Europe, teh better value the ticket will be.
You need to reserve your seat on Spanish trains, which adds to your travel costs. Reservations in other countries aren't always necessary but they are often advisable.

To work out exactly how much your train tickets in Spain would cost if you bought them separately, check train times and prices and check the Movelia website to see if your journey might be better by bus. Bus journeys in Spain are almost always cheaper than the bus and are occasionally quicker too.
