The AVE is the high-speed train service in Spain. The trains are very luxurious and are an efficient way to get around the country. Unfortunately, the service is still in relatively early days and so doesn't visit very many tourist destinations.

Current AVE Routes in Spain

The AVE high-speed train service is slowly (very slowly) being extended across the country with more and more cities being connected to Madrid by the service. At present, the service runs to the cities listed below.

A good resource is this Interactive Map of Train Routes in Spain from Rail Europe, a company that does cheap rail passes for the whole continent. It has all the main train routes in Spain but it hasn't been updated to show the recent AVE routes. Rail Europe has maps for most of Europe: European Train Routes.

Major AVE Train Services in Spain
