Top 4 Guided Tours of Toledo - Organized Tours of Toledo

By , About.com Guide

A list of the best guided tours of Toledo, ranging from one day trips from Madrid to multi-day itineraries that take you all around Spain.

Toledo is an ideal Day Trip from Madrid, but you're going to run into difficulties if you want to visit Toledo by public transport en route to the south of Spain as there are no trains buses on from Toledo - you have to return to Madrid.

Many of these guided tours, on the other hand, do the logical thing and treat Toledo as a stop over on the way from Madrid to the south.

1. Tour of Toledo (Half or Full Day)

Take either a five- or eight-hour tour of Toledo, visiting the Cathedral, St. Tome Church, Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue, San Juan of the Kings, and Victorio Macho Museum on the five-hour tour and more on the eight-hour tour.

2. Tour of Toledo and Aranjuez (Full Day)

This tour includes the same half-day in Toledo as in the above two tours, but with a half day in the oft-overlooked World Heritage-listed town of Aranjuez with its Royal Palace and gardens.

3. Costa del Sol to Madrid via Toledo & Granada (Two Days)

Depart from your hotel on the Costa del Sol in morning and stay a day and a night in Granada (with tour of the Alhambra included). The following day, travel from Granada to Toledo and then on to Madrid. The trip from Granada to Toledo is not easy by public transport (though it is possible), making this a great way to get back to Madrid from the south of Spain.

4. Madrid to Andalusia via Toledo & Back Again (Four or Five Days)

Toledo, Ronda and the Alhambra are three of the most difficult sights to visit independently in Spain (see Organized Tours vs Independent Travel for why). On this tour, you see all three.

In addition to your visit to Toledo, the four-day trip takes in Granada, Seville and Cordoba. The five-day version adds in a trip to Ronda (which is great) and a night on the Costa del Sol.

You can take the four-day itinerary from Barcelona, adding an extra day to accommodate the extra travel time and a trip to Zaragoza.

Though these tours cram a lot into five days, they are a hassle-free way of seeing some of Spain's absolute gems in a short space of time.
