On top of that, April sees the weather get a little wetter, as this is when the spring showers hit.
The best weather, unsurprisingly, is in Andalusia. Which is good, because this is also where you'll find the best of Semana Santa in Spain.

Andalusia sees generally good weather in April. This is when Semana Santa usually takes place - and that needs good weather (the valuable floats can be destroyed by the slightest rain). However, I was in Seville for Semana Santa in 2007 and the weather was horrible.

Spring and winter are wet in the north, so you might think the arrival of the wet season in the rest of the country would spell disaster in the Basque Country. Fortunately, it isn't that bad. It does rain a little more than in previous months, but not noticeably more.
