Where?: Cordoba is in northern Andalusia (Spain's southern-most region), roughly half-way between Seville and Granada.

Built: The cathedral of Cordoba was built as Christian Visigothic chruch and turned into a mosque (Mezquita) in the 7th century. It was taken by the Christians in 1236 and was turned into a Christian cathedral.

Style: Christian Visigothic with Islamic additions.

What's Inside?:The giant arches over a 1,000 columns are the most interesting sights inside, as well as the Byzantine mosaics in the mihrab.

Practical Information: Entry costs about 8€. The cathedral opens early (from 8.30am to 10am) and then again from 2pm until 5.30pm or 6.30pm (depending on the time of year).
