Seven Wonders of the World in Spain: Christian Spain

Image: Damian Corrigan

Winner: Catedral de Santiago de Compostela

Where is it?
Santiago de Compostela

What is it?
One of the oldest cathedrals in Spain (many parts are a thousand years old), the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the final destination of pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago (well, some continue on the old pagan route to Fisterra, but many don't).

Legend has it that Saint James, one of the apostles of Jesus, is buried in its tombs.

Alternatively... Other impressive cathedrals in Spain include the ones in Burgos, Salamanca and Cadiz.
