Some of the best soccer players of all-time have played in the famous scarlet and blue of Barcelona. From Cruyff to Koeman, via Maradona and Messi, we pick an all-star selection of the greatest-ever footballers to play for FC Barcelona...
1. Johan Cruyff
When Johan Cruyff came to Barça in the 1973, the Dutch forward was the man responsible for making Total Football tick scoring goals of such exquisite technical execution that they're still discussed in Barcelona's bars decades later.
2. Ladislao Kubala
The hard-drinking Hungarian striker of the 50’s spent as much time in Barcelona's bars as he did on the pitch. But still he found time to score 133 goals in 186 games and win four league titles.
3. Ronald Koeman
The sturdy, flaxen-haired Dutchman was Barça's defensive rock in the early '90s. Tintin was the orchestrator of play from the back and had a cannon attached to his right foot, which he deplyed to score the only goal of the European Cup Final against Sampdoria in 1991.
4. Diego Maradona
Maradona didn't last long in Barcelona, but the Argentinian's shirt is still treasured in the Football Club Museum. He scored a famous goal against Real Madrid and showed flashes of his mercurial brilliance in two years at the club.
5. Pepe Samitier
Known as 'Lobsterman' because of his awkward style the local striker scored 326 goals in one of Barça's halcyon periods - the 1920s. He also found immortality in the songs of tango legend Carlos Gardel, a personal friend.
6. Ronaldinho
There was a time when the man from the slums of Port Alegre played football from another planet. In five years at Barça he scored 70 goals, including two in a 3-0 win at the Bernabeu which had Real Madrid fans standing to applaud. He won two league titles and a Champions League title in 2006, when he was also voted World Footballer of the Year
7. Lionel Messi
Messi has had fans drooling since breaking into the first team in 2004 at the age of 16. Some say he might go onto become even better than his compatriot Maradona, whose goals he has been recreating at an alarming rate, including dribbles from the halfway line, audacious lobs... even a reconstruction of the 'Hand of God' goal against local rivals Espanyol.
8. Xavi Hernandez
Xavi's unhurried distribution of the ball in midfield has become an art form in itself. The Catalan midfielder has now won everything going for club and country and is rightly considered one of the world's greatest passers.
9. Rivaldo
Under Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal's tutelage Rivaldo excelled from a wide left position. His trademark was his spectacular overhead kick, which set the Nou Camp alight many times during his four seasons at the club. He received the ultimate reward with the World Footballer of the Year prize in 1999.
10. Andoni Zubizaretta
Basque by birth Zubizaretta was Barça's number one during the Dream Team days under Johan Cruyff. One of Spain's greatest ever goalkeepers.
