If you plan on flying by Ryanair on your trip to Spain (the airline has a number of flights both to Spain and within the country, as well as between many other European countries) you'll need to be very careful about what hand luggage you bring.
Ryanair is unique in Europe for hand baggage allowance of just 21.6" x 15.7" x 7.8" (55cm x 40cm x 20cm), while most airlines allow 22" x 17.7" x 9.8" (56cm x 45cm x 25cm).
