The train from Granada to Valencia takes about eight hours and cost about 50 euros. There is only one per day. (Well, there is another that is slightly quicker too, but it is more expensive and arrives at 5am, which doesn't suit anybody.)

Renfe.es, Spain's official rail website, is a mess and has been described as "like Alice in Wonderland, where nothing seems to be what it really is" by Trip Advisor. Residents of Canada and USA should use Rail Europe instead to have their tickets delivered to their home address.

There are regular flights from Granada to Valencia, which should be the cheapest option of all if you book in advance.

Buses from Granada to Valencia take nine hours and cost about 40 euros. Avoid the 'eurobus', which is about ten euros more expensive but no quicker.

You can book most bus tickets in Spain online for only a tiny administration fee (about one euro). Just pay with a credit card and print out the e-ticket.

The 520km from Granada to Valencia takes about five hours, traveling mainly on the E15 and AP-7 road. Note that AP roads are toll roads in Spain. Consider a stop in Murcia on the way.
