October Festivals in Spain

What's On Where in Spain?

By

If you're visiting Spain this October, you're probably not coming especially for Spain's beaches, as the Weather in Spain in October probably won't be conducive to getting a suntan.

But have no fear! There's plenty to do in Spain in October. Lots of towns, especially on the Costa del Sol, have their annual feria, so expect street stalls selling food and drink as the locals party all day and night. This is also the season for film festivals in Spain. Plus: the Madrid 2013 bullfighting season ends this month, if that's your sort of thing.

Best Festivals in October 2013

My top pick for events this month in Spain would be:
  1. Virgen del Pilar in Zaragoza, Aragon
October 7-17 (approx), 2013 Local festivities. The 12th is the highlight, but events go on before and after for approximately ten days.
  2. Saffron Festival in Consuegra
October 26-27, 2013 Celebrates the world's most expensive spice.
  3. Seville Guitar Festival in Seville, Andalusia
October 15-19, 2013. Classical, jazz and flamenco music festival.
  4. Castells Competition in Tarragona, Catalonia
October 6-7, 2013 Human-castle building competition. See pictures from the 2012 event here: Human Castle Building 2012.

Grape Stomping in Spain in October

Grape stomping, formerly an integral part of wine production, still takes place in some parts of Spain. Organizing your own grape stomping experience is difficult, but possible. Read more about Grape Stomping in Spain.
