Best Region to Visit in Spain in May:
Throughout the month.
For a start, the weather is (usually) perfect, with glorious warm weather – but not too hot, for most of the month.
May also sees Madrid’s biggest festival, the Festival of San Isidro, Madrid’s patron saint. Plaza Mayor is center stage, quite literally, for a series of concerts, after which people head out to the city’s parks for a night of heavy drinking!

Event: Cruces de Mayo
Where? Cordoba, Andalusia.
What? Cordoba has the first of its two festivals this month. This festival features a competition for the best-decorated patio. Also popular in Alicante and Granada.

Event: Documenta Madrid
What? Documentary film festival. Mainly in Spanish.

Event: Fiesta de Olivo
Where? Mora, near Toledo.
What? A celebration of the humble olive. Includes a beauty pageant, because of course.
