By , About.com Guide

Madrid's nightlife hotspots. Malasaña is Madrid's alternative zone (with the majority of Madrid's Graffiti Art), Chueca is (nominally) gay. Both are great fun.

The sights on this page feature on my list of 100 Things to Do in Madrid.

4. Wine Tasting

You have two options for wine tasting in the Chueca area. Bianco & Rosso, on Calle Infantas (in the Plaza de Vazquez de Mella), does a variety of wine tastings from about 25€ (the champagne tasting is 55€). Alternatively, try Planeta Vino for an actual wine tasting 'school'.

8. Via Lactea and Other 'Movida' Night Spots

Via Lactea is one of the key bars in the cultural rebirth (movida) that Madrid experienced during the 80s. Fascinating deco and a hip crowd throughout the week.

In the past twelve months or so, a lot of the life of Malasaña has moved slightly south, towards Gran Via, in the area now being referred to as 'Triball'. Read more about Triball.
