This ticket can only be booked online from Renfe.es, Spain's official rail website, which has been described as "like Alice in Wonderland, where nothing seems to be what it really is" by Trip Advisor. I suggest you book your tickets at the train station.

There are regular buses throughout the day between Madrid and Merida. The journey takes four to five hours and costs between 20 and 30 euros.

This ticket can only be booked online from Avanzabus.com, a clumsy site that is not as good as Movelia.es, the main Spanish bus network site. I recommend buying your tickets in person.
