Spain and Portugal (and Morocco) Tours Departing from Madrid

Check Out the Best Spain and Portugal Tours from Madrid

By , About.com Guide

These are, in my opinion, some of the best Spain and Portugal tours on the market. These tours are for people who have just one opportunity to experience all of Spain and Portugal. Tours like these are not for people who are looking for an in-depth experience, rather for those who want to see as much as possible in the shortest period of time.

All of these tours are circuits that start and end in Madrid.

This tour is similar to the above tour (after Lisbon they are identical). The tour above goes to more interesting sights at the beginning, but the tour below has the advantage of spending three nights in Lisbon (therefore less packing and unpacking). This tour also has some optional extensions to include Morocco or Barcelona and Valencia.

Visit Trujillo before a three-night stay in Lisbon, where you will have a guided tour of the city, a day trip to Fatima and some time to explore by yourself.

After leaving Lisbon, you'll visit Caceres and Andalusia. On the drive back to Madrid, there'll be a stop in Toledo.

The nine-day tour above can be extended with the following options:

  • Mediterranean Extension After Granada, this tour misses Toledo, instead your bus drives you to Valencia, where you will stay the night, before two nights in Barcelona. After leaving Barcelona, your tour drives you back to Madrid, via Zaragoza.

Extra Cities Visited: Valencia, Barcelona and Zaragoza (in addition to the cities mentioned above). Note: this tour no longer visits Toledo.

  • Short Morocco Extension After the Costa del Sol, this tour crosses the narrow Strait of Gibraltar to visit Tangier, Fes, Meknes and Rabat in three days. The tour then returns to the Costa del Sol to continue with the itinerary in Spain.

Extra Cities Visited: Tangier, Fes, Meknes and Rabat (in addition to the cities mentioned above).

  • Longer Morocco Extension This version leaves the Costa del Sol to visit Casablanca, Marrakech, Meknes, Fes and Rabat. The tour then returns to the Costa del Sol to continue with the itinerary in Spain.
