Seville, Cordoba or Toledo by AVE Train

Madrid is served by Spain's high-speed train service, which means that Seville, Cordoba and Toledo can be visited very quickly. See Cordoba and/or Seville in a single day (only possible by taking the AVE train) or combine the two in a couple of days.

The closest city to Madrid and well worth at least half a day.

Combined Tours of Segovia, Avila, El Escorial and El Valle de los Caidos

Nicely combines a number of Madrid's satellite cities. Some of the tours are a bit rushed, but if you're days in the capital are limited, these tours are essential.
