The Alhambra is the 800 year old Islamic fortress in Granada and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole of Spain. Built high up in the hills behind Granada, it can be visible from all over the city. But the best view of it is at the Mirador de San Nicolas, a viewing area up in the Albaicyn. Sadly the sun doesn't actually set over the fortress, but the views are amazing and the Alhambra looks beautiful when it is lit up. In the summer the lights come on at about 9.45pm and it is completely dark at about 10.30pm.
