Gaudi Trail, Barcelona: La Pedrera (Casa Mil

La Pedrera

Further along Passeig de Gracia, on the right hand side this time, is La Pedrera (more formally called Casa Milo, but it is rarely called that today). Less colorful than Casa Batllo, La Pedrera is all undulating concrete and twisted iron balconies.

La Pedrera was intended as a residential building and indeed it has been used as that. There is an exhibition of one of these residential spaces.

Perhaps the best element of La Pedrera is what you can't see from this picture - the rooftop sculptures and chimneys.

Owned by Caixa Catalunya (a local bank), La Pedrera hosts art exhibitions and nighttime concerts. Entrance is 8 euros.

Walking Tour of Modernist Barcelona

This walking tour of Barcelona takes you to the major modernist architecture in Barcelona, from the works of Gaudi to the likes of Domenach i Mutaner and Puig i Cadafalch.

Tour of Gaud's Barcelona

If it's specifically Gaudi that you're interested in (or you don't want to walk so far), this Tour of Gaudi's Barcelona is ideal. You'll take in Placa Espanya, the National Palace, Guell Park and the Sagrada Familia over an eight-hour period. This is a good introductory tour of Barcelona with some of Gaudi's highlights to be seen, but I wouldn't say it that closely linked to Gaudi. The tour above is better.
