When people talk about 'Michelin Star Restaurants in Spain', they are generally speaking talking about three-star restaurants. Michellin gives out a large number of Michelin stars each year, but it is the three-star restaurants that capture the imagination.
Spain currently has five three-star Michelin restaurants, three of which can be found in San Sebastian. It had seven until El Bulli closed in 2011, while Can Fabes has recently lost one of its stars.
When it comes to the total number of Michelin Star restaurants in Spain, the exact figure isn't released by Michelin - you'd have to buy the guide and count them all up yourself!
