Cafe Metate, on Travesia de San Paio in Santiago de Compostela, is a former chocolate factory and the family that owns it still makes their own chocolate. The downstairs area, with all of the old chocolate-making equipment, is open to the public in the evenings. They also make a potent chocolate liqueur.

If you are trying to find this cafe using a certain guide book (which will remain nameless so as not to embarrass the makers of the Lonely Planet) you'll fail, as their map is wrong. Travesa/Callejón de San Paio de Antealtares is the street immediately to the south of Praza Cervantes, not the non-existent street to the north.
