Ryanair flights can be cheap - but are they any good?

Customer Service & Staff Attitudes Towards Passengers

According to an article on the BBC, Ryanair is the world's least liked airline due to "cramped seating, unfriendly staff and delays" (this despite Ryanair claiming to be the most punctual airline in Europe).

When I carried my new 200€ suit onto a Ryanair flight with me, the flight attendant stuffed it into the overhead locker despite there being space at the front of the plane to hang the suit.

Advantages of Traveling with Ryanair

  • The cheapest flights in Europe - flights often as cheap as 15€ after fees.
  • Flights to 16 destinations in Spain.
  • Destinations include Madrid, Seville & Granada - some of the best cities in Spain.

Disadvantages of Traveling with Ryanair

  • Extra charges push up price of flight and aren't well explained - what is a 'Ins & Wchr Levy'?
  • 10kg weight limit for hand baggage is too low for most & checking bag into hold costs money
  • Flights to Barcelona 100km away land in Girona and Reus; Santander (Bilbao) is nowhere near Bilbao.
  • Ryanair are prone to changing their departure times by several hours, severely disrupting your plans
  • No complementary food; what is offered is expensive, small and unhealthy.
