The price to check in a bag is 10 for Ryanair and 11 for easyJet. But then there's the check-in fee...
Running total: Ryanair 436.92 v easyJet 473.88. - Check-in
Ryanair charges 5GBP (per person, each way) to check in online with a bag. (If you check in at the airport that is an extra 5GBP). easyJet don't offer online check-in if you have luggage for the hold, but don't anything to check in anyway. I chose the online check-in to save money.
Running total: Ryanair 496.92 v easyJet 473.88. - Other added costs easyJet add travel insurance as standard. If you don't want it, you have to remove it, not once but twice.
- Credit/Debit Card Fee Neither airline charges for the use of an Electron card. easyJet adds a single 9.50 for a credit card transaction or 4 to use a debit card, while Ryanair adds 5 per journey per passenger (60 in total here) to use any card apart from Electron. Few people have an Electron card, so I have gone with the next cheapest option, the debit card.
