Flamenco in Madrid
The Best Flamenco 'Tablaos' in Madrid

By , About.com Guide

Flamenco as it was intended to be viewed is raw and impromptu - at a gypsy wedding or in a prison canteen (I'm not joking - prisons regularly do flamenco competitions). But flamenco is also well suited to a nice sit-down dinner and a good bottle of wine. Venues where you can see flamenco like this are called 'tablaos'. Each has its own system but you generally pay a set fee for food, drinks and a flamenco show.

The tablaos on this page were recommended to me by El Flamenco Vive, an excellent flamenco shop in central Madrid.

Click on the links for more details on each flamenco tablao.

1. Casa Patas Flamenco Tablao in Madrid

An excellent flamenco tablao between Atocha station and Sol.

2. Corral de la Moreria Flamenco Tablao in Madrid

Another famous flamenco tablao in Madrid.

3. Cafe de Chinitas Flamenco Tablao in Madrid

A less famous (but still great) flamenco tablao in Madrid.

4. Las Carboneras Flamenco Tablao in Madrid

Another well-known flamenco tablao in Madrid.

5. La Solea Flamenco Bar in Madrid

Though not a talbao (there's no food and no entry price), this is one of the most famous flamenco venues in Madrid.
