Is flamenco not dying out, like other forms of folk music?

By Damian Corrigan, About.com

Question: Is flamenco not dying out, like other forms of folk music?
Answer: While it is true that the majority of flamenco aficionados are probably slightly older than the average music fan, flamenco is in no way dying. Just as young musicians keep on discovering The Beatles and adapting their music for modern times, so too do young Spanish musicians discover flamenco and bring a new sound to it.

At the same time, 'classical' flamenco still bring in large numbers of people when the biggest artists are in town and attracts the kinds of audiences that in other parts of the world would go to the opera or see a jazz performance.
