By , About.com Guide

Information on the Camino Aragones, one of the routes on the Camino de Santiago and an alternative to the Camino Frances.

See also: Other Camino de Santiago Routes

  • Start Somport, on the French border.

  • Places of Interest Mainly small towns and villages along the river Aragon.

  • Distance The Camino Aragones is only 170km long. It joins the Camino Frances at Puente la Reina, where you still have approximately 700km left.

  • Average Time Taken Six days to Puente la Reina and then another 25 days or so on the Camino Frances.

  • Notes An interesting alternative to starting at the normal camino frances starting point. If you're coming from Barcelona, this route is closer to you than the Camino Frances is, so you'll feel like you're 'cheating' less as you will have a shorter bus journey before you start your walk.
