What is the Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya?:
The Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya is the National Art Gallery of Catalonia. Note that this is not Spain's national art gallery, just the national art gallery of Catalonia, a region of Spain that has aspirations of independence.
For Spain's most important art museum, see the Prado in Madrid
Where is the Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya?:
The museum is in the Palau Nacional in Parc de Montjuïc in Barcelona. Walk up from Plaça d'Espanya for a nice view of the building. After you've seen the collections, check out the rest of Montjuic.
How Much is Entry to the Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya?:
Tickets cost 8.50 for two days, which is great for those (like me) who get museum fatigue quite quickly!
There is free entry on the first Sunday of each month, September 11th and 24th and May 18th.
Entry is slightly discounted with the Barcelona Card.
What are the Opening Times for the Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya?:
The museum is open from 10am and closes at 7pm. It closes early (at 2.30pm) on Sunday and doesn't open at all on Mondays.
What are the Highlights of the Museu Nacional d'Art De Catalunya?:
The Museum Nacional d'Art De Catalunya has a wide variety of classic and modern art, as well as photography.
The classic art is divided into Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. There is an emphasis on art that originated from Catalonia, though the whole of Europe is featured here.
