Who was Pablo Picasso?

Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 and died in 1973. In that time he became one of the most famous artists of his generation. His full name was a bit of a mouthful - he was born Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Picasso... or something like that! His birth certificate and baptisimal certificate showed a slightly different name, unsurprising considering the amount of care and attention required to get that name right.

What is Pablo Picasso famous for?

Picasso's most famous painting is the Guernica, which can be found in the Reina Sofia in Madrid. Other Picasso paintings which have gone for a song include Nude on a black armchair and Garçon à la pipe.

Where did Pablo Picasso spend his life?

Picasso was born in Malaga, though he spent little time there. He studied briefly in Madrid and divided much of the rest of his life between Paris and Barcelona.

Picasso Museums elsewhere in Europe

There are also Picasso museums in Berlin and Munster in Germany and Paris and Antibes in France.
