Nudist Fun in Spain Keeps on Coming! (UPDATED)

Friday July 4, 2008
Not long after I last spoke about naked protests in Spain, in the next few days there will be not just one, but two public nudism activities in Spain, just 150km apart!

First up, on Friday, is the Sopelana Naturist Race, just a few miles outside of Bilbao, in the Basque Country (northern Spain). Then on Saturday is the annual Pamplona Running of the Nudes.

The Pamplona event is in protest against the Pamplona Running of the Bulls, which begins on Sunday. There are rumors that the event won't take place this year, as the organizers believe it attracts too much attention to the bull run and not enough attention to their cause, but the decentralized nature of the event means it would be quite difficult to stop. Meanwhile, the race in Sopelana takes place just because, well, some people like getting naked!

UPDATE
Unfortunately, the Pamplona Running of the Nudes 2008 didn't take place this year.

Spain win Euro 2008!

Monday June 30, 2008
The Spanish national soccer team has won the Euro 2008 tournament, Europe's premier soccer tournament, beating Germany 1-0 in last night's final.

The two pre-season favorites reached the final after two weeks of exciting fútbol, though the match has been described as a 'mediocre end to a sensational tournament'.

The whole of Spain erupted in celebration after the country's first victory in the championship since 1964. Spain have a history of 'choking' in major soccer tournaments, showing good pre-event form before failing miserably at the tournament proper. But the team finally came good despite enormous pressure from the Spanish fans and media.
