Spain's largest bus company, ALSA, has made it easy to book a ticket with a company with their new Android and iOS app.
Previously you had to find a printer when booking from the ALSA website (or from the meta-search site, Movelia), which is not convenient when on the road in Spain. But now all you have to do is book on the app and flash the digital version of your ticket from your phone to the driver to get on board.
Download from the Google Play store for your Android phone or tablet or from iTunes for your iPhone, iPad or iPod. Unfortunately, the app doesn't work for the company's international services.
Bus travel in Spain is often a lot cheaper than going by train. Though Spanish bus stations are often harder to navigate than train stations, the savings often make the added difficulties worthwhile. Read about Bus v Train Travel in Spain

I just want to say how much I enjoy this information. Interesting, clear and precise.
Had annoying problems paying Alsa with a credit card until fixing a PayPal account. Returned yesterday from Valencia and Granada areas, three trips on Alsa, longest of around 500 kms from Alicante to Granada. This bus service is memorably remarkable for its efficiency and comfort. In fact, the best bus rides I’ve had, as an inveterate traveller – been everywhere. The driver handles all baggage, stowing it himself (in the UK most drivers won’t lift a suitcase, complaining of a strained back!). The driver them aids elderly people on board, hands out food packets – altho the salted peanuts and hard cakes are not everyday items for many passengers. They also get bottled water. The WC is clean and functional, a tiny tv-screen views the route, daily news, cartoons for kids. Plenty of seating room, wide and washed windows. At terminal stations two employees rush on to vacuum-clean. The bus rides comfortably over the smooth Spanish highways. Bus travel experiences can’t get any better than this!
