Beaches in Barcelona

Whenever I'm in Barcelona, I'm disappointed to hear people heading off to Barceloneta beach, which is dirty and ugly, when there are so many nicer beaches in the area. But, of course, the idea of going to the beach is to be lazy, so people are naturally lazy in seeking out a better stretch of sand to lie about on.
