'White Night' and Fashion Week in Madrid
It's a big week in Madrid, with two important events taking place over the next few days.
Starting today is Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week (also known as Pasarela Cibeles), where the world's most shapeless women will adorn bizarre-looking clothes that no-one would want to wear out (and wouldn't be able to afford them even if they could). Tickets are not cheap - they must be bought in sets of four, costing a whopping 370€ per person. The event attracted a lot of attention a few years ago when it became the first high-profile event to ban 'size zero' girls from modelling.
Much, much cheaper is Noche en Blanco (or White Night), the Europe-wide cultural event that has come become one of Madrid's most popular events in recent years. For one night only, every museum in Madrid (apart from, I believe, the Thyssen-Bornemisza) will have free entry, to complement a full program of art events all over the city. In the past it has been difficult to track down exactly what is happening at noche en blanco, but this year there is an English site with full details of the whole spectacle.
