Semana Santa 2009 - Never Too Early Book

Sunday November 16, 2008
Semana Santa in 2009 isn't until early April (see Semana Santa Dates for more info), but that doesn't mean you can't get booking now.

Not only is Semana Santa a really popular time for foreign visitors in Spain, it's also a time when the Spanish themselves take lots of long weekends to explore their own country. This means that even if you aren't visiting a 'traditional' Semana Santa city, hotel rooms wherever you are will be booked out early as the Spanish snap up the cheap deals.

So, no matter what you're doing in Spain in April, whether it's Semana Santa related or not, you should already be starting to make firm travel arrangements.

One indeed needs some planning if going to a major city, since hotels will be fully booked otherwise. However, la Semana Santa is also celebrated in small towns and villages, where accomodation will be easier to find. Some photos of la Semana Santa illustrate the Good Friday processions in the small town of Soller, Mallorca.
