Tour de France 2009 To Visit Barcelona

The route of the 2009 Tour de France has been announced and two stages will take place in Spain. After the riders arrive in Perpignan in France on July 8, the riders hop across the border to Girona, where they'll cycle to Barcelona for stage 6 of the world's most famous cycle race. The riders won't have time to enjoy Spain's most famous city, though, as the following day sees them head back towards France, finishing in Andorra.

Spaniards have won the last three Tours de France and they are the only nationality to win the event since the retirement of Lance Armstrong - but next year he's back to steal the mantle of cycling supremacy back from Spain yet again. Armstrong was the man who dethroned another Spanish cycling legend - Miguel Indurain - by breaking his record for the most Tour de France wins. What better place to watch the Spanish try to hold on to their domination of the Tour de France - or what worse place to see them start to lose their grip?

Book your accommodation for these dates now as they'll sell out fast.
