Download the Latest Madrid Metro Map

Wednesday September 3, 2008
Before I visit a major city for the first time, I like to get hold of the city's metro (subway) map as soon as possible. It helps me decide if I need to take a taxi to my hotel or if I can go by public transport. I usually get this map by searching Google Images. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the map you find this way is the most up to date.

Anden 1, the self-proclaimed "Association of Friends of the Madrid Metro" have solved this problem, by creating a new metro map whenever there is a change - be it permanent (line openings and closures) or temporary (such as maintenance works).

Their maps aren't the 'official' maps of the Madrid metro - they're better than that. The new official maps are ugly and difficult to use. Anden 1's maps are much better.

So, save this link to New Metro Maps and never have an out-of-date Madrid Metro map again! ('Comunidad' maps are of the entire metropolitan area of Madrid and the 'Capital' maps are just of the center of the city.)

Thanks to the blog Madrid Me Mata for alerting me to this page.
