What to Do When You Realize Girona Isn't in Barcelona

Monday August 27, 2007
When is a Barcelona airport not a Barcelona airport? When it's 100km away in a city called Girona, that's when!

Thanks to Ryanair and Wizz Air, who list Girona airport as 'Barcelona (Girona)' and 'Barcelona-Girona' respectively, many people believe that Girona is to Barcelona what Heathrow is to London and JFK is to New York and don't realise that it takes about an hour and a half to get from Girona to Barcelona itself.

Fortunately, Girona isn't a bad city in itself and warrants at least half a day's wandering around. Take a look at the links below to find out more about Girona.
