... For When You Just Have to Buy a Souvenir T-shirt
It is virtually impossible not to bring something tacky back from your vacation. And with Spain home to quite possibly the tackiest souvenirs in the history of tacky souvenirs, the task of bringing something home that people would actually want is that bit harder.
But most of us don't have the time (or the inclination) to put a lot of thought into our gifts (especially us males), so we usually just settle for a t-shirt. However, even here there are good and bad examples. While I'm pretty sure my father has never worn the garish Javea t-shirt I bought him when I was eight (except perhaps to paint the shed), one company in particular makes t-shirts that still look good when you get them home - Kukuxumusu, the ones who do the cool cartoons of sheep and bulls that you see all over the place. They (usually) refrain from announcing in big letters the city where the t-shirt was bought (why would anyone want to have 'IBIZA' blazoned across their chest, especially if they didn't go there?) and are often actually quite funny.
Kukuxumusu t-shirts are on my Top 10 Souvenirs from Spain. OK, maybe there are ten things better than a t-shirt that you could buy from Spain, but I'm trying to be realistic here - I know that when you have half an hour until your bus to the airport and you still need to get something for your nephew you don't want to be searching around for things to buy, so this list features those easy-to-find gifts for your loved ones.
I recently received an email from someone who thought this list was too tacky. What do you think? Post your opinion in this thread on the forum.
