Budget Flight Price War Erupts as New Airline Launches

Saturday September 9, 2006
Flights to and from Spain are falling in price as Clickair, the new airline from Iberia, launches with flights from 5€. Clickair tickets went on sale last Thursday, with flights from Barcelona, Seville and Valencia to major European cities such as Paris, Zurich and Rome. Clickair rival Vueling followed suit with similar flights also for five euros.

Meanwhile, Spanair has announced new routes from Madrid and Barcelona, with initial seats as low as 1€. Spanair now flies to Granada, Almeria and San Sebastian from Madrid and to Valencia and Granada from Barcelona.

However, none of these can beat Ryanair's current offers. Flights to and from Vallodolid & Granada are currently as cheap as 1c each way to London Stansted (plus taxes, of course).

If you are going to be visiting Spain over the next few months to take advantage of these prices, you ought to know a little about the Weather in Spain, as sunscreen will be needed less and less as we approach Christmas. You should also keep up to date with my Festivals Calendar to find out exactly what is going on when you're in the country.
