Whale Watching in Tarifa - for Those Who Don't Want to Go Windsurfing

Wednesday August 23, 2006
Tarifa is the windsurfing capital of Europe - and you can tell. In the summer the once-sleepy coastal town is overrun with 'surfer dudes' intent on 'catching the surf' (I believe that is the right parlance).

There is more to Tarifa than windsurfing (and kitesurfing and anything else than involves wind and water) - but not a lot. There is Whale & Dolphin Watching in th 14km-wide Strait of Gibraltar as well as ferries to Morocco - the trip takes less than 45 minutes.

One thing you shouldn't try to do is get a suntan. Wind and beaches don't mix - only try sunbathing in Tarifa if you don't mind getting sand in your hair, eyes, mouth, ears and everywhere else humanly possible!
