London Airports Returning to Normal as European Flights Resume at Heathrow

Thursday August 10, 2006
As evening approaches in Europe, London airports are returning to normal after the terrorist threat brought chaos to international air travel today. However, the restrictions on hand luggage and carrying liquids onto the plane that have applied today will continue to operate for the foreseeable future. For this reason, if you are planning to travel between the UK and Europe or the States over the next few days, allow extra time for checking in.

Understandably, many tourists traveling to Europe are going to be apprehensive about passing through a London airport until the threat has subsided. London acts as a hub for so many transatlantic flights and the cheapest way to fly from the United States to Spain (and other European destinations) is often a flight to London or Dublin and then taking a flight with a budget airline such as Ryanair or Easyjet. However, it is certainly possible to fly directly to Madrid or Barcelona, you'll just pay a little more. Check with your tour operator or try a flight search engine like Expedia to find alternative routes to Spain and the rest of Europe without passing through London.

Scroll down the page for more information on the London terror threats.
