Iberia & Ryanair Cancel Flights from Spain to the UK after London Terror Plot UPDATE

Thursday August 10, 2006
Iberia flights from Spain to London have been canceled after police uncovered a plot to blow up ten planes flying from the UK.

There are no planes landing at Heathrow Airport at least until 3pm today.

All Ryanair flights to Stansted have been canceled.

If you are flying, you need to be aware that no hand luggage will be allowed today. The contents of wallets and purses must be emptied into clear plastic wallets provided by airport staff. Also no liquids will be allowed. Medicine is OK as long as it is not in liquid form. Glasses and contact lenses can be carried on but no glasses case and no contact lense solution. Baby food is fine too, but the carrier must taste the food to prove what it is. Keys can be taken onto the plane, but no electronic devices (such as electronic car keys). For the full list of requirements, see the BAA website.

For more details on the plot, see About's Guide to the UK for Visitors.
