Making a complaint in Spain - just say the magic words!

Monday July 10, 2006
Today I had to get some passport photos printed in Valencia, so I decided to get rid of some of my loose change. I tried to pay the lady the final 15c with 1c & 2c coins and she told me I wasn't allowed, as she had lots of small coins already. I told her that I had lots too, which was why I wanted to spend them and I reminded her that she has a cash register to put the coins in, while I have to carry them around in my pocket. Thankfully I was able to say the magic words and the issue was solved quite quickly (she accepted my coins). To find out what the magic words are (or the 'magic point' if you don't speak Spanish), see this article on making a complaint in Spain
