Today I had to get some passport photos printed in Valencia, so I decided to get rid of some of my loose change. I tried to pay the lady the final 15c with 1c & 2c coins and she told me I wasn't allowed, as she had lots of small coins already. I told her that I had lots too, which was why I wanted to spend them and I reminded her that she has a cash register to put the coins in, while I have to carry them around in my pocket. Thankfully I was able to say the magic words and the issue was solved quite quickly (she accepted my coins).
